Have had to resort to numerous work arounds, but really, Ravelry is nearly unusable for me as well as every other site that uses google analytics.

I actually haven’t done any testing with SSD performance on my app servers. The difference is noticeable during a deploy but other than that, there isn’t really any disk IO on these machines.

I chose the SSD so that I could buy a smaller, cheaper half-depth machine with no hotplug, no RAID and only one drive bay. I’ve never had a reason to have any amount of storage in my app servers but before SSD I was doing RAID setups because hard disks fail too often. Going with the SSD and single drive chassis saved me about $400.
